Mr Putin’s message of congratulations reads, in part:

”I hope that over these next four years we will build on the solid foundation we have laid through our joint efforts and continue our fruitful work together to strengthen and expand the multifaceted partnership that exists between Russia and the United States. Our agenda includes increasing our bilateral cooperation in the fight against international terrorism, ensuring stability and security in the world and developing our mutually-beneficial trade and economic ties and contacts between our societies and people.“
