At a meeting of the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces, President Vladimir Putin said that the structure of the Defence Ministry had become more functional, and military training of the army and navy had become more intensive.

Mr. Putin said that the work of the military department was on the whole satisfactory.

In modernising military organisation of the state, it is important not to slow down the rate of progress that has been reached. Actions must be consistent and timely, the President said.
