The meeting discussed prospects for energy sector cooperation between the two countries.
Mr Putin noted the importance of the question raised by Mr Aiyar regarding using the resources of eastern Siberia. Developing transport systems to take Russian oil and gas supplies to the Pacific coast would improve the energy situation in the region, the President noted.
Mr Putin also noted Mr Aiyar’s timely initiative to organise an international meeting of Asian energy suppliers and buyers in New Delhi.
