The future of Russian-Indian economic ties is in investment cooperation and implementation of major strategic projects

Speaking at a conference organised by the Jawharlal Nehru Memorial Found, President Vladimir Putin also noted such joint projects as Sakhalin-1in Russia, the construction of the nuclear power plant Kudankulam in India, and also the creation of the international transport corridor North-South with the participation of India, Russia and Iran.

Russian companies are prepared to take part in carrying out long-term programmes passed in India for surveying, producing and transporting oil and gas, as well as in constructing and modernising power plants, ensuring the security of railways and other projects The Russian President noted that despite the insignificant volume of mutual trade, recently serious steps have been made to develop bilateral relations.
