Mr Medvedev set the goals of improving Russia’s energy system and developing transit of energy resources and noted the need to develop action plans to strengthen Russia’s position in the global energy sector.

The President said efforts are needed to consolidate the work of energy producers and consumers, activate dialogue with the CIS and Eurasian Economic Community countries, the European Union, the USA and other leading countries, coordinate work with the OPEC countries and gas exporting countries, and facilitate the creation of a common European energy space.
