Mr Putin and Mr Annan discussed relevant international issues, including the situation in Iraq. Stress was given to the indisputable central coordinating role of the UN in regulating international problems, and providing answers to modern challenges and threats. The importance of improving the system of the UN was noted.
Mr Putin gave a high assessment to the role of the UN General Secretary in reforming the Organisation.
