President Vladimir Putin congratulated President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on Kazakhstan's Independence Day

December 16, 2004

In his message of congratulations the President Putin said, in particular:

“Consistent and dynamic development of our bilateral relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries in all areas form the foundation upon which we are building the strategic partnership between Russia and Kazakhstan. The organisation of the Year of Kazakhstan in Russia and the Year of Russia in Kazakhstan have made a great contribution to strengthening our ties as neighbours and bringing our countries closer together.

We highly value Kazakhstan’s consistent policy of intensifying integration processes in the Commonwealth of Independent States and its cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, the Eurasian Economic Community, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and in the Common Economic Space that is in the process of formation.

I am certain that the deep-rooted traditions of friendship and alliance between Russia and Kazakhstan will continue to grow stronger for the benefit of both our countries’ peoples and in the interests of guaranteeing stability and security in Central Asia and in the world in general.

I wish you good health and success in your state work and I wish the friendly people of Kazakhstan well-being and prosperity.”
