Vladimir Putin held talks with President of Germany Horst Koehler in St. Petersburg

January 14, 2005

The Russian President proposed during the talks to concentrate on determining the next steps in humanitarian cooperation and political interaction between Russia and Germany, and also on global economic problems, especially since Horst Koehler formerly headed the International Monetary Fund.

Speaking about the upcoming ceremonies dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the end of the World War II, Vladimir Putin said that he hoped that they would become a symbol of reconciliation in Europe.
