Vladimir Putin proposed to examine issues of cooperation between the two countries with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and discuss paths to discuss tasks planned within the framework of the CIS.

The Russian President also said that he had signed a law introducing an additional protocol to the treaty of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, by which Russia may sell military equipment to members of the CSTO at internal prices.

Askar Akaev, in his turn, noted that the Kyrgyz military had long been waiting for this decision.

The Kyrgyzstan President said that in this five years since the Declaration on Cooperation and Partnership was passed, noticeable results had been achieved in all spheres of life. One of these achievements is the military base in Kant. He also noted that one of the major joint projects is the construction of an electric power station on the River Narym.
