Since the moment of its founding, Moscow University has been one of the country’s most outstanding symbols, President Vladimir Putin said at Moscow State University, where he took part in the opening of the new fundamental library building and congratulated the students and teachers on the university’s 250th anniversary.

As at the time of the university’s founding, there is a great need for new knowledge and new people for Russia’s development and future.

The state should provide direct support for the development of education, science and high technology.

Mr Putin was impressed by the technology park that Moscow State University has created and said it was a good example for other universities in the country.
