February 1, 2005

Mr Trutnyev informed the President that the government would examine the final draft of the draft law on mineral resources in February. The draft law does not make provision for holding tenders for mineral resource development.

Mr Trutnyev also announced that a common state shelf development strategy has been drawn up.

Under this programme, oil production will increase by 30 million tons by 2010 and by another 95 million tons by 2020, while gas production will increase accordingly by 90 billion and 230 billion cubic metres.

The minister also said that a license system for each section of the oil pipeline under construction in eastern Siberia has been developed.

By 2011, 37 million tons of oil will be pumped along this pipeline, and by 2016 this figure will reach 50 million tons.
