Vladimir Putin met with Romanian President Traian Besescu

February 14, 2005, The Kremlin, Moscow

The main theme of the talks was the development of Russian-Romanian relations.

Russia and Romania have overcome a slump in bilateral relations, Vladimir Putin noted. A sign of this is not just the Treaty on friendship and cooperation signed between Russia and Romania in 2003, but also the growing trade turnover, which in 2004 alone increased by more than 15%.

The Russian President congratulated Traian Besescu on his election as President and thanked him for visiting Moscow.
