Vladimir Putin signed a federal law ratifying the agreement between Russia and Kazakhstan on joint plans to use troops (forces) in the interests of ensuring the joint security of both countries

March 9, 2005

The agreement was signed on 16 January 2004 in Moscow.

It was prepared in the development of statutes of the Treaty on friendship, cooperation and mutual aid between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan of 25 May 1992 and the Collective Security Treaty of 15 May 1992. Furthermore, the agreement makes it possible to more fully realise the statues of the Treaty between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan on military cooperation of 28 March 1994 in order to ensure the joint security of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, and also to widen cooperation between the armed forces of both nations.

The agreement will make it possible to ensure regional security, above all for nations of the Central Asian region.
