The President’s message reads:

“It is pleasing that Russian-Portuguese relations have gained a new dynamic in recent years. Political contacts are strengthening, and ties are becoming more intensive in the cultural sphere, as are tourist exchanges. Good prospects are opening in bilateral trade and economic cooperation, and interaction between the two countries on the international stage.

I am certain that with your involvement, the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Portugal will see further development in the interests of the peoples of our countries, and in building a stable and prosperous Europe. This will be helped by consistent realisation of agreements reached at the Russian-Portuguese summit in Lisbon in November last year.”
