Mr Putin said that the governments of Russia and Ukraine have many economic issues to resolve and he also called on Ukraine to name a representative as soon as possible to take part in talks on forming the Common Economic Space.
Ms Timoshenko, for her part, assured Mr Putin that Ukraine supports the creation of the Common Economic Space and proposed holding a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian governments to discuss this question.
