The message reads:

“Cooperation between our two countries in the military and military-technical spheres figures prominently in the general complex of actively developing Russian-Chinese relations. We intend to continue to make efforts to deepen our cooperation in this direction.

I am certain that your work in the high-ranking position as Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China will serve to strengthen peace, security and stability in the Asian and Pacific region and in the world as a whole.”

The President also sent a message to Jiang Zemin on the completion of his work in the post of Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China. The message expressed profound gratitude for his major contribution to developing Russian-Chinese military and military-technical cooperation. “I am certain that by keeping to the spirit of partnership and strategic cooperation, our countries will achieve new success in this area,” Vladimir Putin wrote.
