March 25, 2005

At the opening ceremony of the Year of Russia in Armenia, held at the A.S. Spendiarov State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Vladimir Putin said that business, cultural and human contacts are an important part of bilateral relations.

Many people in Russia and Armenia put their hopes for a solution to existing problems and the future of their children with cooperation between the two countries. Therefore, the main goal of joint work, including the Year of Russia in Armenia, is to justify people’s hopes, Mr Putin said.

The Russian President congratulated veterans of the republic on the 60th anniversary of Victory: “On 9 May we will meet together – as we have always done before.”
