Opening the talks, Vladimir Putin said that the Year of Russia in Armenia being held in 2005 was an extremely important event. The practice of holding similar events with other countries shows that they have a very positive effect not just on the humanitarian sphere, but also create a good basis for economic cooperation and an atmosphere for the development of political relations, Mr Putin said.
