Valentina Kanarskaya came from Tula to Moscow at the beginning of 1942 and began serving in an air defence division protecting the approaches to Moscow from attacks by Nazi aviation.
Mrs Kanarskaya noted that she is very touched by the attention shown her and by the opportunity to take part in the 60th Anniversary of Victory celebrations, despite the fact that fate has taken her so far from her homeland.
