Vladimir Putin congratulated Mikhail Saakashvili on the national holiday of Georgia which is being celebrated today.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with the results of the latest rounds of talks on military issues which were completed in Tbilisi recently. The Russian President stressed the crucial fact that the compromise decision on the terms which Russia and Georgia reached takes into account the real possibilities for an organized and civilized withdrawal of Russian troops.

The conversation was held on the initiative of the Georgian side.
