The two Presidents visited the Assembly and Test Facility and the Russian Proton heavy-class rocket launch complex.
Mr Putin and Mr Nazarbayev viewed the multi-purpose laboratory module that, in 2007, will become the first section of an international space station, the Russian Proton-M rocket that will place the module in orbit and several satellites and rockets ready for use.
Mr Putin and Mr Nazarbayev viewed models of the light, medium and heavy–class Russian Angara series rockets, the Monitor remote earth observation satellite, the Rokot rocket and the Breeze upper stage.
The two Presidents received information on the GLONASS navigation and rescue satellite system, the new Russian Soyuz-ST rocket to be used in launches at the Kourou Space Launch Centre in French Guyana, and the new Russian satellite, Sterkh.
While Mr Putin and Mr Nazarbayev viewed the Russian Proton heavy-class rocket launch system, Federal Space Agency Director Anatoly Perminov told them about the launch complex’s design and how it works.
