June 20, 2005, The Kremlin, Moscow

Recently contacts between the two countries have been developing very intensively, said President Vladimir Putin at talks.

In 2004, trade turnover grew by 36%. There are very good prospects for Russian-Norwegian cooperation in the oil and gas industry and in development of northern territories.

A noticeable growth in mutual investments can be seen. Direct investments from Norway in the Russian economy have already passed the 4 billion Krone mark. The presence of Russian companies in Norway is growing.

Norway has supported Russia in the issue of joining the World Trade Organisation.
