United Nations Security Council resolution 1596 expresses concern at the presence of armed groups and militias in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In particular, the resolution calls on the international community to provide financial and technical assistance to the transition government of national unity in order to help it establish effective control over its borders and airspace.
