In light of recent incidents in Moscow and Warsaw, the central theme of the discussion was the present condition of Russian-Polish relations.
It was noted that these criminal activities must be understood in the context of the negative political atmosphere between the two countries.
It was emphasized that the authorities in both countries must take measures to improve the climate of mutual relations.
The general public has an important role in accomplishing this task.
Mr Putin and Mr Kwasniewski expressed their shared opinion, that joint decisions rather than phobias and mutual judgements should determine the extent of Russian-Polish cooperation.
The conversation was held on the initiative of the Polish side.
