August 25, 2005, Bocharov Ruchei, Sochi

The chairman reported on Basic Element's international projects in Tajikistan and Montenegro.

The company Basic Element signed a memorandum with the government of Tajikistan that provides for a 1200 million USD investment in the Rogun hydroelectric station, and the expansion of a Tajik aluminium factory along with the construction of its new facility.

By the end of 2005, after the privatisation of an aluminium factory, the government of Montenegro should allow Basic Element to become the factory's controlling shareholder.

Oleg Deripaska also told Vladimir Putin about the company's plans for investment in the development of infrastructure in the Krasnoyarsk Region. In particular, the construction of the Boguchansk hydroelectric station, and an aluminium factory and pulp and paper mill to exploit mineral deposits in the left bank of the Angara river, are planned. The total amount invested will be about 4,5 billion USD.
