President Vladimir Putin spoke about the newly created Council for Priority National Projects during an informal meeting with journalists on board the yacht 'Kavkaz' on the way from Sochi to Tuapse

September 6, 2005

The Council will make it possible to concentrate the state’s financial and administrative resources on priority social policy areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture and housing construction.

The relevant ministries and Presidential Executive Office officials will oversee these priority national projects.

Mr Putin confirmed that he will personally control the Council’s work, thus making avoiding all lobbying and too wide a dispersion of state funds.

The wage rises planned as part of these projects will begin in the first quarter of 2006. Budget funding has already been planned to cover these wage rises and it is now for the Duma deputies to allocate the funds to the different sectors, the President said.
