In particular, the telegram contains the following passage:
”It is symbolic that this impressive project was organised and took place in 2005, the year the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the International Year of Sport and Physical Education. I am convinced that this very interesting and significant project, which united both professional athletes and numerous fans of running, will promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen personal contacts, and help develop international contacts in the field of sports.”
The President wished the Russian and British athletes the best of luck in their new accomplishments.
