President Vladimir Putin took part in a ceremony laying the cornerstone on the banks of the Hudson River for a memorial to the victims of September 11 terrorist attacks

The memorial will be installed opposite the lower part of Manhattan where the towers of the World Trade Centre, destroyed by the terrorists, once stood.
