The President met with the Chairman of Gazprom's board of directors, Alexei Miller

October 14, 2005, Moscow

They discussed the company's work and the results achieved during the past nine months. In 2005 Gazprom extracted 547 billion cubic metres of gas, a record volume, of which 147 billion cubic metres was exported.

The company's priority social task is providing the regions with gas infrastructure. A three-year programme which plans to spend around a hundred billion rubles on developing gas infrastructure has been developed.

During these three years more than 12 thousand kilometres of new gas pipelines will be constructed and approximately an additional 11 million people will have access to gas infrastructure. The President of Russia considers that this programme's implementation should occur in very close contact with the government and the heads of the regions.

The head of Gazprom also talked about the preparations for liberalizing the company's share market, planned for the end of 2005.
