President Vladimir Putin held a Security Council meeting in an enlarged format

Issues of providing security primarily in the North Caucasus were discussed along with main foreign policy guidelines of the relations with the CIS countries.

At the meeting were present Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Dmitry Medvedev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliev and director of the Intelligence Service Sergei Lebedev.

At the meeting also took part speakers of the Federation Council and the State Duma Sergei Mironov and Boris Gryzlov, President of the Supreme Court Vyacheslav Lebedev, General Prosecutor Vladimir Ustinov, First Deputy State Duma Speakers Oleg Morozov and Lyubov Sliska, Deputy State Duma Speaker and head of “Popular Patriotic Union – “Rodina” faction Sergei Baburin, Deputy State Duma Speaker Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Presidential Aide and Head of the Presidential State-Legal Directorate Larisa Brycheva, Justice Minister Yury Chaika, Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Southern Federal District Dmitry Kozak, Communist Party Duma faction leader Gennady Zyuganov, Rodina Duma faction co-chairman Dmitry Rogozin, Head of the State Duma Committee on Issues of Security Vladimir Vasilyev, Head of the State Duma Committee on Civil, Criminal, Arbitral and Procedural Legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov, head of the State Duma Committee on Constitutional Law and State Building Vladimir Pligin, First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service Sergei Smirnov and Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Valentin Sobolev.
