The President of Russia supported Syria's declared readiness to increase cooperation with the International Commission investigating the circumstances surrounding the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister, Rafik Hariri, and to comply with Security Council resolution 1559. The imperative need for the international community to take deliberate actions to prohibit new tensions from breaking out in the region was emphasized.
The conversation took place at the initiative of the Syrian side.
