The meeting discussed issues regarding trans-border cooperation with China.

Trade between Russia and China reached a record mark of $21.2 billion in 2004, with 60 percent of the trade flow going through the Chita Region. Mr Geniatulin said that the increasing trade flow and expanding contacts between the two countries requires modernisation of the customs infrastructure. One way of increasing the throughput capacity of border checkpoints would be to introduce an electronic declaration system, Mr Geniatulin said.
