President Vladimir Putin announced changes in the Government and the Presidential Executive Office

Speaking at a meeting with the Cabinet on Monday, Mr Putin announced that Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Dmitry Medvedev has been appointed First Deputy Prime Minister.

Former Governor of Tyumen Region Sergei Sobyanin has been appointed Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office.

Sergei Ivanov has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister and retains at the same time his post of Defence Minister.

The Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoys in the Volga and Far East Federal Districts, Sergei Kiriyenko and Konstantin Pulikovsky, have been transferred to other work. Alexander Konovalov, former prosecutor of Bashkortostan, has been appointed Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoys in the Volga Federal District, and Kamil Iskhakov, former head of the Kazan City Administration, has been named Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoys in the Far East Federal District.
