The meeting of heads of state and government of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum member countries has come to an end

The main topic of discussion at the APEC summit was further liberalizing and improving conditions for trade, and increasing economic cooperation in the region. Special attention was given to issues concerning the WTO and questions of energy security.

Many political questions were discussed at the summit. Most importantly, these are problems related to strengthening regional security and the joint struggle against terrorism, transnational criminality, and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Measures to fight against the spread of pandemic infectious diseases were also examined.

Following the summit heads of state and government of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum member countries adopted a declaration on the summit's results.

Participants in the APEC summit also approved guidelines to counteract international trade of counterfeit and pirated products, including through the Internet.
