Participants discussed the results of activities undertaken by the Ministry in 2008 and priorities for 2009.
The meeting dealt with issues of modernisation and improving the combat readiness of the Armed Forces, improving the system of military education in the country, retraining and job placement for officers who have been discharged, indexation of allowances and the provision of housing for military personnel.
Following the meeting of the Defence Ministry board, Dmitry Medvedev met with senior commanders of military districts and naval fleets of the Armed Forces.
