At the meeting on the bank sector's role in the regions' social and economic development held in Novosibirsk, the President noted that the national banking system could offer Russian citizens a much greater range of services which should be accessible to clients.
Vladimir Putin also emphasized that a lack of bank infrastructure and the banks' low level of participation in the economic and social spheres slows down the development of Russian regions.
Following the meeting, a series of orders with respect to improving legislation in the banking sector, efficiency, appeal for investors and transparency was prepared.
