Vladimir Putin congratulated President of the Republic of India Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Manmohan Singh on the national holiday, Republic Day

The message to the President of India Abdul Kalam reads, in particular:

“Our countries are historically linked by relations based on trust, friendship and mutual respect. I am convinced that this is a reliable basis for further strengthening the Russian-Indian partnership, a partnership which is in the long-term national interests of both states and an important factor in maintaining international stability.”

The message to Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh emphasizes:

“Russia's relations with India are based on strong traditions of friendship and mutual understanding. Today, as a result of joint efforts by our peoples, our relations are dynamically developing and constitute a new high-quality basis for our strategic partnership.

I am convinced that the talks that took place during your recent visit to Moscow have strengthened the unique multifaceted Russian-Indian ties based on both our long-term national interests, deep mutual respect and trust.”
