Speaking at a meeting with the Cabinet, Mr Putin gave the Defence Ministry a number of instructions in connection with the crime committed at the Chelyabinsk Tank Academy against Private Andrei Sychyov.

Addressing Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, the President instructed the Defence Ministry to provide the Prosecutor General’s Office with all necessary assistance in investigating the case.

Mr Putin also instructed the Defence Ministry to prepare legal and organisational proposals for improving educational work in the Armed Forces.

The President likewise instructed the Defence Ministry to help Mr Sychyov’s family.
