Vladimir Putin sent a greeting to the participants of the fifth joint Russian-Arab Business Council

February 28, 2006

The greeting reads, in particular:

”The development of relations on many levels with Arab countries always was and remains a significant direction within Russia's foreign policy. Strengthening direct ties between the Russian business community and its Arab partners plays an important role, and it is in part due to the activities of the Council that the number of these partners is constantly increasing. This helps expand healthy economic cooperation which is becoming more dynamic as years go by.

Today actively increasing cooperation in priority areas such as energy, trade and industrial cooperation is in all of our interests. There are great possibilities in the investment sphere where the financial resources of Arab countries combined with modern Russian technology could produce interesting results. Our countries' joint participation in implementing major regional projects has resulted in interesting prospects.

I am confident that the Russian-Arab Business Council will continue to provide essential help in promoting economic partnership with a view to further developing constructive Russian-Arab cooperation.“

Vladimir Putin wished the participants of the fifth session of the Russian-Arab Business Council fruitful and successful work.
