Vladimir Putin sent a message to the King of Saudi Arabia, Abdallah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, in connection with the fifth session of the Russian-Arab Business Council

March 2, 2006

The message reads, in particular:

“We recognize that strengthening direct links between the business communities of the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia helps develop trade and economic relations and the multifaceted ties between our two countries.

The Russian-Arab meeting presently taking place in Riyadh will undoubtedly produce valuable results. I consider this meeting to be our joint constructive contribution towards strengthening mutual understanding and tolerance in relations between different peoples and religions. It is necessary to prevent extremists from involving the international community in a conflict between ethnic groups or religions. Today it is important to join the efforts of all those who favour expanding the dialogue and partnership between civilizations. Russia will continue to actively promote efforts in that direction.”

In the message the Russian President also pointed out the dynamic development and high level of political cooperation between the two countries. The Russian head of state also expressed his belief that cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will become an increasingly powerful factor in ensuring stability both in the region and in the world.
