President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the Government Cabinet

Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov reported on the outcome of his visit to Latin America, where he discussed the prospects for a deeper trade and economic partnership with the leadership of Brazil and Argentina.

Trade and Economic Development Minister German Gref spoke on the main directions for customs policy over the coming three years.

Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov reported on the meeting of the Inter-ministerial Commission on Export Controls.

Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko reported on the state of talks on the package of 38 accords for forming the Common Economic Space. Mr Putin noted that Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan are ready to sign the documents and called on the government to speed up work in this area.
