The President’s message of congratulations reads, in particular:

“The Russian rocket-building and space industry is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary this year. Throughout all these years our country has been a recognised leader in creating state-of-the-art technology in this strategically vital economic sector. Through their selfless labour our scientists and engineers have created truly unique satellites and space craft, piloted modules and highly reliable launch vehicles and ground-based infrastructure.

It is important that today’s new generation of space explorers, highly qualified specialists, are continuing the glorious traditions of their predecessors and making a worthy contribution to exploring outer space, strengthening our country’s defence capability and furthering the effective development of our economy.”
