Education, scientific and cultural cooperation among the CIS countries is a key resource for economic and social modernisation and development, President Vladimir Putin said at the opening of the first CIS Arts and Science Communities’ Forum.

Combining the competitive advantages that each of the CIS countries has in the humanitarian sphere would bring tangible benefits for all the participants and could become one the breakthrough projects for the CIS.

Mr Putin said he hoped this distinguished forum’s work would have a big impact on promoting integration in a whole number of areas and expanding humanitarian contacts.
