The ceremony handing over the banner took place on the Kremlin’s Ivanovskaya Square on the day the regiment marked its 70th anniversary.
Mr Putin approved the new banner by special decree. The old banner will now be kept by the regiment as part of its history.
Speaking at the ceremony handing over the banner, Mr Putin said that the new banner symbolises and strengthens the link between the successive generations of courageous defenders of the Fatherland and underscores the historic continuation of military traditions.
