“Concerning the end of your term as President of the Republic of Italy, I would like to express my gratitude for the constructive cooperation and excellent mutual understanding during your tenure.

Russia highly values our countries' partnership relations. Due to your direct participation we have engaged in a great deal of joint work which helped implement important initiatives in the political, economic, cultural and scientific spheres. As a result, the centuries-old friendship which binds Russia and Italy became even stronger and Russian-Italian cooperation in international affairs became an established part of European and international politics.”
