President Vladimir Putin congratulated President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the Belarusian national holiday, Independence Day

The President’s message of congratulations notes, in particular:

“We here in Russia have sincere feelings for the fraternal Belarusian people and remember well the glorious pages of our shared history.

I am certain that all-round development of integration-based cooperation on the principles of equal and mutually beneficial partnership will help Russia and Belarus effectively achieve their social and economic development goals and will contribute to improving and strengthening democratic institutions”.

Mr Putin also thanked Mr Lukashenko for his hospitality and for the excellent organisation of the Eurasian Economic Community and Collective Security Treaty Organisation summits in Minsk.

“The agreements reached in Minsk will help these organisations grow consistently stronger and increase their international authority. We are committed to active cooperation with Belarus to work on implementing these important decisions”, Mr Putin said.
