Opening the meeting, Mr Putin reminded the participants that Russia has put the issue of international energy security on the agenda for the upcoming G8 summit on July 15–17.

Overall, the G8 members have coordinated a common approach to the energy issue, the President said.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Sobyanin, Presidential Aide and Russia’s Sherpa in the G8 Igor Shuvalov, Natural Resources Minister Yury Trutnev, Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko, President of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov, General Director of Surgutneftegaz Sergei Bogdanchikov, President of Transneft Semyon Vainshtok, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Alexander Ryazanov and Executive Director of TNK-BP Management German Khan.
