The G8 heads of states and government completed their second working session

July 16, 2006, Strelna, St Petersburg

The session was held in a pavilion in the Konstantinovskii Palace in Strelna and lasted for one and a half hours.

The G8 adopted the following declarations: the G8 Summit Declaration on Counter-Terrorism, the G8 Declaration on Cooperation and Future Action in Stabilisation and Reconstruction, the G8 Statement on Strengthening the UN's Counter-Terrorism Programme.

After the session the G8 leaders went outside the pavilion for the traditional photography session.

This is the last working session between the eight leaders. On Monday the sessions will take place in an extended format and the G8 leaders will be joined by those who have received special invitations: the leaders of five important countries –China, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, India – whose economies have developed very quickly over the past few years and the heads of a number of international organisations – the UN, UNESCO, the IAEA, the WHO and the World Bank. The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbaev, will represent the CIS.
