Ehud Olmert expressed his gratitude for Russia’s support of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 on Lebanon.

Vladimir Putin pointed out that the fact that all fifteen members of the UN Security Council accepted this resolution represents a good chance for finding a political settlement, the only reasonable option in the face the escalating military and political confrontation.

In connection with this, they emphasized the need to quickly implement the resolutions that have been adopted by the UN Security Council.

The conversation took place at Israeli initiative.
