The telegram to the President of India reads, in particular:

“Our countries’ historically friendly relations have become progressively stronger over these past few years within our strategic partnership. We sincerely value the closeness of our relations and the mutually advantageous Russian-Indian cooperation. We highly appreciate your personal contribution towards developing Russia and India’s multifaceted ties.”

In the telegram to Manmohan Singh, the Russian President emphasized:

“India is duly proud of its achievements during these years of independence and occupies an honourable place in the world economy. We admire your outstanding achievements in the science and high-tech fields.

Each year your country’s authority in the international community becomes stronger. India’s participation in the G8 summit in July 2006 in St Petersburg is only one example of this. I recall our very significant conversations in Konstantinovskii Palace with satisfaction.

There has always been a high level of cooperation and trust between our states as well as intensive political contacts and a constructive dialogue that really facilitates expanding the mutually advantageous ties between Russia and India. I am convinced that our strategic partnership is in both of our countries’ long-term interests and will help maintain stability and security in Asia and the world at large.”
